CEO Pay has increased by 23% in 2010

 

CEOs of the largest US companies received pay average of $ 11.4 million in 2010, at 23% in one year, according to a searchable list compiled by the AFL-CIO this week.

The estimate of CEO pay is based on 299 companies in the S & P 500 Index which executive compensation is available for 2010. The CEO of 299 received a combined total of 3.4 billion in 2010, enough to pay the median wages of ordinary workers 102,325. The median salary for all occupations was $ 33,190 in 2009, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.


"Despite the collapse of the financial market in the hands of executives under the age of three years, the disparity between the CEO and the wages of workers has continued to grow to levels that are simply stunning," AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka said in a prepared statement.


The release of the AFL-CIO "Executive Paywatch" is part of a campaign to strengthen the reform of Wall Street and corporate tax loopholes, said Trumka.


The Executive Paywatch page, following remuneration of the Executive since 1997, is the most visited part of the site Web AFL - CIO, according to Josh Goldstein, spokesman for the Organization of the work.
