The family of the 6-year-old girl who received a pat down to the security of the airport, in New Orleans said today that there must be a process of different screening for children.
"We struggle to teach our children protect themselves, to say"no, it is not correct to touch me that way in this area,"the girl of the mother, Selena Drexel, said." But we are saying here that it is ok for these people. "If we find other means, that we are the most vulnerable, she said.
Drexel and her husband, Mr. Todd Drexel, Bowling Green, Kentucky, appeared this morning in an exclusive interview with "Good morning america."
A daughter of the couple traverse screening video went viral on the Internet, get thousands of views on websites such as YouTube. It shows an officer TSA swabbing inner thighs of a young girl and the execution of his fingers in the upper part of the girl blue jeans.
The Drexels said that they were helpless, watching their daughter has patted.
"I have asked for alternatives, I have requested so that it can be rescanned," said Selena Drexel. "They just refused and said they were going to do what they were going to do."
Selena Drexel said that she could only speculate on why the 6-year-old child has been selected for the pat down. She said that the supervisor of the TSA is clearly "non-verbalement" would be problems if it caused a fuss.
Father of the girl said that while his daughter has been polite and humble review, she broke into tears later.
"It was initially just confused," said Todd Drexel. "It didn't really what she had done wrong."
He said that he and his wife struggling with how to explain to their child what had happened after him before it does was not ok to be affected in some places of education. "Now that she was pat down in public, in an airport."
The family left New Orleans Armstrong International Airport when the incident occurred on April 5. The Drexels have two other children, a child of 9 years and 2 years.
The TSA said he considered the band and that the "current appropriate follow-up procedures officer." They added that they "investigate additional focus its resources and go beyond a one-size-fits-all system."
