Couple survives 4-month honeymoon from hell

Stefan and Erika Svanstrom are just return from honeymoon from hell. The young couple had planned a long journey that would begin to Singapore at the beginning of December and end in China four months later. With their baby daughter in tow, the Svanstrom packed and ready to leave their trip unique.

But things go exactly as planned. They face floods, fires, tsunamis and earthquakes along the way.

To begin, on 6 December snowstorm in several major airports in Europe and in the Svanstroms - Stefan, 38 and Erika, 32 - has finished the first night of honeymoon trapped inside a hotel to airport expenditure. Finally, they left the Germany to Singapore and then went to Bali - where they flew right into a monsoon.

"We went in the valleys of the North and has seen come bamboo and roofs came off the coast of houses, said Erika Svanstrom.".

Fire, flood, plague, and Pestilence

Their next stop was in Perth, Australia, where they have closely missed a cyclone and devastating bushfires. Then it was in Cairns, where they ran smack into the category 5 Cyclone Yasi. The Svanstroms have been evacuated from their hotel to a shopping centre nearby where they were to wait for the storm to pass.

"We were sleeping on a floor of concrete with hundreds of other people," said Svanstrom.

Accommodation not exactly four stars.

As the Svanstroms were leaving the Australia for the New Zealand, an another near miss. This time, just before their flight took off, an earthquake struck in Christchurch, their destination. The couple took detour in Auckland and driving the rest of the road. Their point of view of Christchurch was confined to the airport. City centre roads were impassable.

"When you see all this summarizes it seems horrific." We were very lucky to escape alive and safe. We learned certainly expect the unexpected, "said Erika Svanstrom.

Of course, the Svanstroms are adventurous types, preferring from hostels to hotels. The couple even planned a trip to South Africa when Erika Svanstrom was five months pregnant. But they have never won it. More devastating weather caused the cancellation of the trip.

Throughout that they have travelled to 16 countries together. And it is perhaps this sense of adventure which maintained going forward with their route, instead of catching the next flight back to Stockholm as their requested concerned parents. But back was a thought, they have said that they never considered.

Disaster in the Pacific.

By far the worst part of the trip was the earthquake and subsequent tsunami in the Japan. When the earthquake, where were the Svanstroms? In Tokyo, of course.

The couple to eat lunch with their baby when they felt the ground shake. The Svanstroms has finished walking from one side of the city to the city lost power.

"It took us three hours." All stores were empty of fresh food and we were wondering how we were going to feed our baby. "I was a little anxious," said Svanstrom. But the couple eventually find some rice and milk and decides to stay on the spot, knowing that they had little choice because it was almost impossible to get a flight of the Japan at the time.

Finally the Svanstroms and their baby were moving to China, where they spent a quiet a few weeks before flying home. Since that they had the opportunity to reflect on their journey.

"I also think that each crisis that you survive makes you stronger, and the bond between us grew up with all the challenges we have encountered." In a way, we are also very humiliated by the experience, since at the end of everything we still doing us well. "Although we have had the misfortune, we still have our lives", said Stefan Svanstrom.

But luck is not quite over yet. It was driving home from work this week, the Erika Svanstrom commuter train is stuck--the result of a storm in Stockholm.
