Military families get free Admission from 1 300 museums

Through a program with the National Endowment for the Arts, active duty military and their families can receive free of charge to more than 1,300 museums across the United States throughout the summer.

The offer, which runs from the day of remembrance at the labour day, is part of the Blue Star museums expanded program which will be announced Monday, reports the agency Associated Press.

The program began the year last with a roster of 600 participating museums.

Participating locations include: the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Hampton Roads Naval Museum in Norfolk, VA. The Cummer Museum of Art and gardens in Jacksonville, FL; The Art Museum of San Diego in San Diego, CA and the CDC/Global Health Odyssey Museum in Atlanta.

The military discount is available to members of the active service of the members of the army, marine, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard custody more national and reserve and up to five immediate family members.

Dependants whose spouses are currently deployed are still eligible to participate in the program, if they have the necessary military identification.
