Yemen warning
The State Department warned the citizens of the United States the level of high security threat to the Yemen terrorist activities and civil unrest. The Department urges us citizens not to travel to the Yemen step. American citizens currently in the Yemen should consider at the outset to the Yemen. The State Department authorized the voluntary departure of the Yemen of members of the non-essential staff of the Embassy of the United States family. This document replaces the warning Yemen released October 15, 2010. If a crisis occur, evacuation of the Yemen options would be extremely limited due to lack of infrastructure, geographical constraints and other concerns of security described below. Ability of the Embassy of the United States to assist American citizens in a crisis in the Yemen is very limited. In the case of an evacuation, U.S. law requires the State Department to charge the disaster for the transport of the US Government organized. American citizens remaining in the Yemen despite this warning should do their own emergency response plans, join their presence in the Yemen through the Smart programme of passenger registration (STEP) and provide current contact details and next of kin or emergency contact information.? The threat of security at the Yemen level is extremely high due to terrorist activities and civil unrest. Piracy in the Red Sea, Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean is also a threat to the security of maritime activities in the region. Terrorist organizations continue to be active in the Yemen, including Al-Qaeda in the Arabian peninsula (AQAP). The Government of the United States remains concerned about possible attacks against Americans, citizens, businesses and perceived American and Western interests. There is ongoing civil unrest in the country and large scale demonstrations in major cities. See our International Maritime piracy fact sheet.
