United States to store European passenger data for 15 years

Details of travellers, including addresses, phone numbers and even credit card information, would be retained by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in a new draft agreement between the United States and the Union European, the Guardian learned in a draft report leaked to the paper.

Last week, the Senate adopted a resolution which scolds the EU freely for not sharing data on passengers more.

Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, Senator Joe Lieberman, said at the time: "Terrorists want still to use planes as weapons of mass destruction against us," and that United States "simply cannot accept" any hindrance of the efforts made by the European Union.

Under the agreement, the United States will also ask airlines to provide these personal data up to 96 hours prior to flight departure. The current system requires airlines to provide the so-called passenger name record 72 hours prior to departure, which allows Customs to American analyze lists of terrorists watch and databases before departure for.

"The keeper of the reports that the accord" recognizes that there will be occasions when people are delayed or prevented from flying because they are identified as a threat and gives them the right to the application for judicial review to the Federal Court. ?

The agreement sets out also what to do in a breach of security or loss of data. Surprisingly, the agreement also recognizes the inevitability of racial profiling. Sensitive personal data, for example, ethnic origin or political opinions, can we used in "exceptional" when a life is in danger.

Germany and the France have already raised concerns on the agreement, while Britain has already opted in.

It is noted that the EU has its own system to keep this type of data, but it is only stored for 5 years.

Pirates of the Caribbean: 5 places to vacation as Captain Jack Sparrow

The fourth episode of Disney's Pirates franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: on Stranger tides will hit theaters on May 20. Although the Captain Jack Sparrow and society draw their roots in a climb, theme park real pirates past haunt the Caribbean and beyond. But this is not all the adventure and plank walking on the high seas.

These outlaw necessary Ocean somewhere on land to which they could withdraw.

When that happens if Jack Sparrow, Barbossa and the rest really exist? Where travel swaggering writer Jack Sparrow would send its cohorts?

Filled with pirate essentials as chests to the Treasury, bottles of rum and wenches fail, these historical pirate playgrounds are intended for internal Sparrow (or black beard) in us all.

Port Royal, Jamaica.
Captain Jack was certainly aware of Port Royal - father his Elizabeth Swann PAL was the Jamaican Governor of fictionalized city version of real life. This shipping centre end of the 17th century proved attractive to hackers that they could easily access and hunting of main navigation routes.

Pirates were not turned away from Port Royal by the lords of English of the island, as they have been enlisted as a defence against the French takeover attempts or Spanish. In return, pirate celebrities like beard black and Henry Morgan could be spotted in the so-called "depraved city in the world," where there was a pub for every 10 residents. A hacker never needed to ask "where is all the rum gone?".

Although a large part of the city was destroyed by an earthquake, modern visitors can get an overview of the days of glory at historic Fort Charles and its Museum. Accommodation options are abundant in Kingston in the vicinity, or visitors can rent a room or dock their ships at Port Royal to the Morgan Harbour Hotel and Marina.

Tortuga, Haiti.
The real Tortuga could have everything as Captain Jack was found by Pirates. Located off the northern coast of what is now Haiti, Tortuga was a pirate stronghold since the beginning of the 17th century. Based in the island of pirates are calling themselves "Brothers of the coast" and launched a code of conduct for pirate. During this time, Jean Le Vasseur, once Governor of the island, sought to Tortuga the hacking of the Caribbean capital.

Nevertheless, French, English and Spanish attempted to eradicate pirate activity. A curious tactical involved which leads to more than 1,000 prostitutes on the island to encourage the unruly men settle. You do not know how that would not really attract more, but all what floats your boat.

Most visitors today will have to approach the island, just as their predecessors pirate: by boat. But with the lack of infrastructure and the presence of the Government, it is perhaps a trip for only the most valiant adventurers.

New Providence, Bahamas
Located in the path of many maritime routes, the Bahamas have been popular for the buccaneers hangout when not out plundering on the high seas. At the end of the 17th century and the beginning of the 18th century, the island of New Providence was particularly full of pirates. Jack Sparrow could have rubbed elbows with beard black, Henry Morgan, Calico Jack Rackham, Anne Bonny and Mary Read, who called their playground.

The geography of the Bahamas has made an excellent hunting ground of pirates. First of all, there were many natural resources to support crews. The Islands, shallow waters, reefs and many complex narrow channels also reasons perfect prey snare.

They also provide the environment perfect for modern pirates Tan, tuba or set sail on one of these cruise ships Cree last. Or, after duplication on a little more booty, visitors can stay at the famous Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island just on the bridge of New Providence.

Newport (Rhode Island)
It is not often that attackers are envisaged frolic on the coast of New England, but Newport was regular pirate playground at the end of the century for people like William Kidd, Henry every, and Thomas Tew. With foreign trade colonies restricted, hackers and their property were welcomed as a means of stimulating the local economy.

But all good things must end, and the tide of public opinion has turned against the pirates. The colony has seen an influx of honest merchant ships in the early 1700s, and piracy has thought to suffer more he helped.

Noah's Ark theme park Gets the final green light in Kentucky

Things are about to biblical in Kentucky. Thursday, Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority gave its final approval to grant of 40 millions of dollars in tax rebates to construct a park in biblical theme called "the meeting of the Ark".

Controversial Museum, supported in part by Mike Zovath, co-founder of the answers to the Ministry of Genesis which already built Kentucky 70.00 square foot creation Museum, received funding after months of back and forth on the legitimacy of a religious attraction, funded by the Government of the State.

Any, Kentucky Tourism Development Finance Authority voted unanimously to grant rebates of tax for the project, which is scheduled to $ 172 million (visitors to see the Ark Web site a tab "donate here") of more than $ 40 million.

Zovath told the Associated Press: "It was the last hurdle real for us as I am concerned." Of the Zovath, he claims, is intended to dispel doubts about the biblical event.

The project will include a replica of the Tower of Babel, conference rooms, boutiques, theatres and, of course, a zoo for children (it will be 2 of each animal?) and live shows. ABC News announced in December, when plans were first announced that the Ark will be larger than a history of 3 buildings, the bridge more 35 tennis courts, and could be big enough to accommodate 600 cars inside.

A consultant who considered the proposal of the State Tourism Office stated that the project will probably attract 1.4 million visitors per year. This is what Governor Steve Beshear is designed for, at least. He hopes the Park will employ some 600 to 700 people and will bring to $ 250 million the first year only. For those who rely, the creation Museum has attracted more than 1 million visitors since its opening more than 3 years ago.

But the Americans United for separation of Church and State have something to say. "The Director realization General company, Barry w. Lynn, told the AP that Kentucky" should not promote the spread of Christianity or any other point of view religious fundamentalists. "Let these people build their fundamentalist Disneyland without government assistance." He added: "this misguided project merit to sink." (Get?)

Response from Zovath: "more they try to paint us in a bad light, the more opportunities we have explain the project.

10 Copies of choice Shopping tax-free (PHOTOS)

There are times when as a tourist is smart advice-especially if a foreign trader travellers if they would accept a receipt of VAT (VAT) to be eligible for a refund of the tax.

These discount, available only for non-resident programs, are commonplace in Europe. But there is a growing number of countries in the world where travellers can also obtain a refund. (See the slide show what buy where below.)

Singapore launched the trend of repayment in Asia in 2004 and was soon followed by the Indonesia, the Japan, the Korea of the South and the Thailand. Unknown to many travellers, Mexico began to offer tax refunds in 2008 (just one year after Canada cancellation of its discount program for individual travellers).

VAT and GST (goods and Services Tax) place the tax burden on the consumer end, due to the place where the merchandise is used. In many places, purchased goods taken out of the country by non-residents are not subject to VAT/GST to 5 per cent to 25 per cent in Sweden Japan, the Norway and the Denmark.

Despite this, travellers usually have to pay tax, at least temporarily, on the purchase of an item. This is why travellers need to file the documents appropriate for a refund on the way back.

There are procedural nuances from one place to another, but the basic principles are the same everywhere in the world. Purchase goods of a Merchant authorized tax free shopping. Do the minimum required purchase (as low as $17 in Argentina, up to a maximum of $300 in Australia), if there is one, and the Clerk to complete the necessary tax forms. Present a passport for identification.

At the airport, show the goods to the Customs office before going through security, and have tax forms stamped. Passengers can then pack the goods in their luggage and record (except Australia, which requires that the carry-on baggage of these purchases, except wine and oversized items). After passing through security, submit the forms on a pillar of tax refund for an immediate refund or to have a cheque by mail home.

Beware, however, that many countries charge a commission on refunds. If passengers want to refund credited to a payment card, expect to pay $4 in South Africa. Israel has a sliding Commission scale ranging from less than 5% to a maximum of 15 percent, according to the amount of the refund. Fresh Mexico a sum exorbitant commission of 35%.

Anywhere people make tax-free purchases, don't forget:
? Discover the requirement minimum purchase, if applicable, for a single item or total of the amounts, and the walkthroughs. Get details on dozens of countries, tax free shops operators premiertaxfree.com and global - blue .com.
? Look for merchants' signs and stickers that say non-taxable Shopping or refund of the VAT.
? Shop now. Less than a non-participating merchant may be a deal better than a higher price at a participating merchant, despite reimbursement.
? Travellers will almost always have to show your purchases to an officer of customs at the airport or a seaport.

A refund may not add up to lots of money is after all said and done. But the bottom line is if travelers want this money in the end with the excise man or in their pockets.

Australia

Spirit Airlines Ad mocks Schwarzenegger Split

It is easy to hit below the belt, but is it really necessary? Spirit, the airline that arises with incredibly timed ads moque recent headlines, is at it once more, this time take on the news of the child of love Schwarzenegger.

News broke earlier this month that the marriage of 25 years of the Arnold and Maria Shriver was kaput. Then came the revelation that Schwarzenegger has created a love child, a son, almost 20 years earlier with a member of his household staff, including the name, it was unveiled on Tuesday, is Mildred Patricia Baena.

Spirit Airlines, never one to shy away from controversy, has released a new ad on its website mocking banter of the former Governor.

Advertising request customers "identify" a sexy maid, this is necessary. Advertising and then jumps to the line: "if low tariffs, you can take the entire family... including you just meet brother."

This is not, of course, the first time that spirit hit below the belt.

Famous spirit asked clients to enjoy its DD (deep discount) and specials "milf" (sorry, it's many islands, low tariffs) in 2009.

Just after the Gulf oil spill 2010, spirit has invited customers to "Discover oil on our beaches!" in reference to tan ladies drops of Sun oil.

The airline took on the now famous Tiger Woods car accident in November 2009, with a sale of "eye of the tiger" showing a tiger at the wheel of a car in a fire hydrant.

And, of course, what is the point to have Charlie Sheen, if you are not pleased him? The airline touted the merits of its tariffs, "winners" in his "sale Living the Dream" in March of this year.

While the airline has a history of advertising in both directions, something to take on Schwarzenegger split so shortly after the announcement seems almost cruel.

United Airlines apologizes for reuse of the 9/11 flight numbers.

United briefly reinstated Airlines flight of two of the numbers that have been diverted on September 11, 2001 and are apologizing for the move.

Numbers 93 and 175 returned to probably use within recent days, apparently because of a technical error, the agency Associated Press reports.

Blog of Time magazine wrote that one of the possible reasons for the glitch could be due to updates numbers of flight because the merger of United / Continental which was finalised in 2010.

Friday the 13th flight: AOL travel live superstitious sky

Friday the 13th flying. He scares away flyers? Step especially. I am on the Delta Airlines 1629 flight as I write this, and I shovel my neighbour and KAYAKING. Superstition has no place in the air.

I knew that I had booked my ticket in Minneapolis Friday 13 until a few days later, when I checked the date of the Conference, I was to Saturday 14, much less worrisome.

Being does not one for superstition, I forgot about it until I was waiting in the lounge of futuristic Delta "third world airport" (thank you Donald) La Guardia Airport. On research, it was clear to see that the major part of American public flight simply gives a damn on Friday 13.

Flights have been fully reserved, lists of relief have been fulfilled and departures were delayed due to congestion. Now I'm in the air Friday the 13th.

I would be worried?

Flyers Talk Superstition

I asked my seatmates their thoughts on Friday 13 of flight. One, an attorney living in New York City and flying home to Idaho for delivery of diploma, told me: "I realized that it is Friday the 13th when I the reserved, but I am not that superstitious, and there is also nothing that I could do about it.".

What is the Attorney General of New York's superstitious? "No, not at all." I understand the mythology of Friday the 13th, but it doesn't bother me. ?

Kevin Smith Southwest

As I write, this is where we are. Gogoinflight

My neighbour, monopolizing the window seat, is Minneapolis and a student at Columbia University in New York. I asked him if he is superstitious and he told me: "" Yes and no. I hope that my gut feel, but when it comes to fly Friday the 13th I have to go where I go so I'm not going to think twice. ""

He continued: "in high school when I played sports I chose the number 13 and I knew that it was an unlucky number, then I wanted to that challenge.

Data hates Superstition

Data provided to AOL travel kayak appears to be in agreement with the flyers in the air right now and my friend Attorney at my side.

According to KAYAK, they looked at the average price of flight for the month of May and compared Friday 13 of air fares against all the other Friday in May. Tickets of today came about six per cent higher than the average.

Here is a breakdown of the price of tickets for the above days

5/6: $498.96
5/13: $513.30
5/20: $485.07
5/27 (Memorial Day): $ 471.91

Robert Birge, marketing director of KAYAK tells AOL travel: "while the plane ticket can jump at any time, the surge in prices Friday 13, we have seen KAYAKING shows that the airlines are not as superstitious passengers could be." We have seen that people are still today flight and ready to pay the price, even if they are not walking on cracks and walk under ladders. ?

But it seems that the Brits do not have the same attitude Don "t give a damn" as the Americans when it comes to Friday the 13th. KAYAK found that the United Kingdom, the average ticket for today is 20.4% cheaper than in the rest of the month.

Although we wonder if perhaps his marriage Royal post just setting in fatigue.

Personally, I am less concerned on Friday 13 and worried of choking on a Delta peanut fine I was graciously offered free of charge.

See you in Minneapolis.

The tradition of the sleep-away camp lives on for campers of all ages across the country family summer camps. Some still keep old school with rustic cabins and camp fires, while others offer a new type of experience with programs of language immersion or beer and cheese tasting.

Kenlie "Too fat to fly" Tiggeman Southwest

Southwest Airlines is landing in hot water after they said a passenger that she was "too fat to fly".

During a stopover in Dallas Easter Sunday Kenlie Tiggeman told by an employee of Southwest that she and her mother were "too fat to fly" when they asked what the weight restrictions were on the flight, according to MSNBC.

Tiggeman, who has lost 120 pounds over the past two years, told the news agency: "no matter how far I came." I have a long way to go, but no one sees that. All they see is my outside - a person who is fat. ?

"Customer of size" in the sky.

Policy of "Customer of size" Southwestern clearly sets out passengers who do not fit between the armrests of 17 inches must buy a second seat.

According to the Southwest, they are usually secretive with their concerns and take clients in a private space to test the seats before boarding. But Tiggeman and his mother, Joan Carpenter, said that they had the confrontation of 45 minutes with an employee of the Southwest for approximately 100 people.

Tiggeman added: "I know that I have a lot of weight to lose, but I am certainly not too fat to fly." I do all the time, the country and abroad, and I have never had someone approach me and especially the way they did. I've been embarrassed, humiliated. "Tiggeman wrote on her blog she loves usually to fly JetBlue because"jets feel more spacious and the customer service is always extraordinary." ?

The employee non-identified Southwest said ladies that they could board the flight... If they sit with a third overweight woman in a row.

Mother of said Tiggeman MSNBC: "of course my daughter was okay with that." "But I was not because the deal I have with Southwest when I left, I bought a ticket and it is open seating, and can sit where you want to."

After a supervisor intervened, women were allowed on the flight without purchase of additional seats and received coupons and an apology, which Tiggeman recorded with his phone for good measure.

"Old fears in new nightmares."

When Tiggeman led to his blog to describe the event in a position entitled "the day Southwest Airlines took my old fears in a new Nightmare", a Southwest branch communicated with its new to apologize and offer free additional flights.

But Tiggeman stands firm in its position that it is trying not free flights, just as Southwest "level of sensitivity must be different."

Tiggeman wrote also on her blog that she wanted to visit the studio of weight loss of the Beverly Hills Richard Simmons - videos have contributed to his loss of weight - and Simmons personally wrote back and asked him to workout with him.

This is not the first time that someone has taken to criticizing southwest of their policies. In February 2010, Director Kevin Smith is famous in a public dispute with the airline after it began from a linked Burbank flight. In July 2010, a thin passenger was launched a flight to Sacramento-bound flight to make room for a passenger to overweight.
